The FGV Centre for Global Law (FGV CPDG), under the coordination of Professor Dr. Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, has been launched by FGV Rio Law in April 2023, with the purpose of conducting research and studies on Global Law and Governance, taking into consideration the context and the specific demands of the Global South. It contemplates transnational activities and structural links with academic institutions in Brazil and worldwide to share knowledge and develop partnership and joint activities.
FGV CPDG intends to establish itself as a focal point of competence and knowledge on Global Law and Governance in Brazil and Latin America, via the collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between high-level experts worldwide. The Centre intends to have a major role in reaching out to policy makers, government advisors, legal experts and practitioners, academics, organized civil society, and the public at large. It will also open a channel of dialogue between researchers and foster a network with other higher education institutions and think tanks in Europe and Latin America.
Participant academics and practitioners originate from renowned higher education institutions in Brazil, Latin America and Europe. International partners originate from renowned think tanks, universities and international institutions, to name a few: Sciences Po Law School Paris, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Universiteit Leiden, Université Libre de Bruxelles, College of Europe, European University Institute, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Egmont Institute, University of Geneva, University of Copenhagen, University of Montreal, Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law, University of Ottawa, among others.
